Birmingham Central Mosque

I was given a really thorough tour of the mosque by Hateeb who was very helpful. There are some amazing views to choose from and I was a little overwhelmed and did not know how to approach making this view. In the end after putting people to lots of trouble, I revisited at night and took some photos from over the road. I like the way it is lit in the evening and I also prefer the angle from the pavement opposite. Having said all that, I would love for the dome to be part of a future print, perhaps blocking two thirds of the view back towards the city centre.

The print is reduction linocut and monoprint. A slightly unusual palette for me, with much of the print created using Akua inks.
