Flyover Fly Under

This print is of course Spaghetti Junction at Gravelly Hill Interchange. Underneath, it is fairly quiet and peaceful. If I was to start an outdoor yoga class, I would definitely consider this as a location. Breathing in …. breathing out …. listen to the distant rumble of traffic and relax. It has a cathedral like quality really. I like the experience of the unusual viewpoint when you are there. You will see the tops of vans and lorries disappear behind enormous pillars of concrete and reappear elsewhere, not necessarily where you would expect as they take hidden turns.

A park and a canal are very close to this view, hence the unlikely house sparrows flying by. The house sparrows are engraved and placed onto a light monotype background. I really like how the combinations of marks came together at the bottom of this print. I wish I could remember how I did it!
