Happy New Year Inner ring Road
This print explores combinations of linocut and monotype. It is quite a loose, painterly print because of the amount of monotype which emphasises the wet, miserable day spent traffic jamming on Birmingham’s ring road. Although a familiar commute for many, I usually use the train to get into the centre of Brum. This scene came about as I ventured out to gather images for a print depicting Chinese New Year. Unfortunately, the celebrations were a washout that year but I came away with a more mundane image that has proven to be very popular.
