So many different titles for this print. However, I reached a point in the print when I was happy with the background, it was a little understated and quiet, but it had a strength to the colours and the shadow was the point of interest. When viewing the building at different times over the course of a couple of years, I was always struck by the beauty of the mature trees in the background and the vast quantities of leaf litter that they created. This bit of Brum has always been a bit windy and chilly and I really wanted to capture the yellowing leaves against the distinctive grey brick of the building.
Hokusai, (of Great Wave fame), has another well-known piece called ‘A Sudden Gust of Wind’. Jeff Wall’s photographic homage is also notable. I wanted to reference this and capture that feeling of an instant. I have been looking to create this for a while but unsure of which print to place it in.
