Argent Rainbow
Further up Vittoria Street in the Jewellery Quarter and about ten years later on than another of my prints in the series Ramgarhia Sikh Temple. Argent Rainbow is part of the same group as the Ruskin Glasshouse in Stourbridge where I have my workshop. Some of their students have completed work experience placements with me over the years and I’m exhibiting the series at the Hive Gallery at the end of 2027 – hopefully the whole 100.
The dark clouds, sunlit buildings and rainbow were a really unusual early morning light that I wanted to recapture. The sky being darker than the buildings and road, the quite heavy rain and of course the rather challenging to print rainbow made for quite a dramatic print.
I don’t have many Jewellery Quarter views. I’m hoping to make another one though before the end of the series – a view of the BT tower through a window with a cat sat on the window ledge: an homage to one of Hiroshige’s views of Edo.
