Grand Central Sunshine
A view sketched and photographed from the warm, inside space that used to lead to Debenhams. I wanted my two biggest challenges to appear in this print: text and people. The people are hard to carve at this scale though, they suit being much smaller or much bigger when carving the plates. Nevertheless, I’m pleased with the print. I like the raised viewpoint which allows for a composition of shapes formed by the shadows and sunlight and the bus is centre stage which is a first for the series.
