Pub and Station
Pub and Station is the Woodman pub and Curzon Street Station. I was quite intent on achieving a vivid gradient on the inked up sky, as I had been looking at a number of Hiroshige’s vividly coloured night time skies. I think that overall the artificial lighting from the pub and the streetlights make this print more colourful than others in the series.
The light spilling out onto the pavement is achieved through monotype printmaking. The station quietly stands in the background awaiting it’s transformation into Birmingham’s HS2 station.
