Typhoo Tea Factory from Fazeley Street

Created as a commission for Stofords in the Jewellery Quarter. I created a view front and back. This one was about time of day and also the lovely buddleias that festoon the canal banks in this area. Once they would have been covered in butterflies but there seems to be a dearth of them in recent times. This view is a little later in the season as well, the flowers have turned brown and summer is over. The original print is unusual in the way that the oil based lino ink depicting the buddleia became transparent over the canal. At first I tried to give it more opacity but over time felt happier with this as an outcome. It seemed to add to the delicacy of the work. That element of the view has been recreated quite faithfully in the giclée print.
